About
For over a decade, Bike for Change has been an inspiring story of children reaching out to make a difference in the lives of other children.
Created in 2003, Bike for Change was conceptualized by Jay Westmoreland as an outreach of First Baptist Church of Charlotte to provide a tangible mission opportunity for the children of FBC. Each year, the participating children learn of the needs of Baptist Children's Homes' residents, pray for them, and promote Bike for Change to provide financial assistance.
Participants quickly realize how blessed they are and eagerly ride their bikes to raise awareness of the needs. Bike for Change has since grown to incorporate other bikers from within a 50 mile radius of Charlotte and is seeking additional groups to participate across North Carolina.
Since 2003, elementary age bikers have logged an estimated 2,000 miles and have raised in excess of a quarter million dollars! We are especially grateful for the encouraging words and kind donations that our sponsors provide each year. Proceeds of Bike for Change are utilized to provide warm beds, hot meals, clothing, and a home where the children are safe and realize that God loves them.
Perhaps your church, school, or other children's group would like to organize their own event or partner with an established Bike for Change? For more information, email bikeforchange@bchfamily.org
